In an inspiring turn of events at the Chess Olympiad, Nigeria’s chess prodigy, 12-year-old Deborah Quickpen, is set to make her mark in the Open section of the tournament. Although the team faced visa challenges that affected their full squad’s participation, the Nigerian Chess Federation ensured that Deborah and her teammates arrive the venue and are ready to take on their first match with great enthusiasm and hope.

The team, comprised of FM Kigigha Bomo (National Champion), FM Abimbola Osunfuyi, WIM elect Toritsemuwa Ofowino, and WCM Deborah Quickpen (Women National Champion).
