The First-FIDE rated Ever Uniben Chess Open Tournament to Hold on the 13th-15th of September 2019

The 1st Uniben chess open is a 6 round Swiss FIDE rated chess tournament billed to hold in the university of Benin on the 13th-15th of September 2019. The tournament is planned to be an annual event hosted by the University of Benin Chess Club to help build young players in the game of chess particular in the southern part of the country.

The event is the first of its kind to ever occur in any Nigerian university and it promises to be exciting. The experienced players in the tournament will get another opportunity to slug it out amongst themselves and also get the opportunity to face some young new talent who are yet to make their mark in Nigerian chess due to the dearth of tournaments in the region.

There will also be an unrated category for persons yet to acquire FIDE ID to be part of this great festival od wits.
