GM Bassem Amin, the Egyptian chess grandmaster, achieves an important moment in history. at the 18th African Individual Chess Championship held at Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra, Ghana. Securing his 7th championship title, GM Bassem‘s victory also marked Egypt’s 15th championship win and their 8th consecutive title in a row.

His journey to victory included a decisive win over Angola’s David Silva in the eighth round, earning him 7.5 points out of a possible nine and sealing the championship title with a round to spare. In the final round, GM Bassem Amin faced off against IM Andrew Kayonde from Zambia. Despite the tough competition, GM Bassem Amin emerged victorious, displaying his skills and expertise.

Throughout the tournament, GM Bassem demonstrated his skills by defeating opponents like Prince Adeyinka Samuel Adewole from Nigeria, IM Amorim Agnelo from Angola, and GM Bilel Bellahcene from Algeria, among others, he also managed a draw against Chitumbo from Zambia.

With this remarkable achievement, GM Bassem Amin established himself as one of Africa’s top chess players, displaying strategic brilliance and unwavering determination.
