QueenVee Chess Academy Tournament: Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria – January 2023

The QueenVee Chess Academy, founded by Miss Vivian Ibrahim, recently held a tournament in Yola on January 2nd and 3rd, 2023. The tournament featured 18 participants and a cash prize of N250,000 for the top 8 winners.

Players from various states, such as Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau, came to compete in the tournament. The event was sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, a distinguished representative of Adamawa Southern senatorial zone and a chess enthusiast. Senator Yaroe also attended the tournament, officially starting the event, and even played chess with some of the participants.

Several notable figures in the chess community also attended the tournament, including Dr. Adeniyi Oriolowo—Chairman of the Adamawa State Chess club, Mr. Charles Chagi—Chairman of the Gombe State Chess club, and Mr. Yakkon Damaryam, the Arbiter of the tournament.

After two days of intense competition, Mr. Nwachukwu Emmanuel emerged as the tournament champion. Musa Daniel Yakubu came in second place, and Sani Salihu placed third.

The tournament was a great success and provided a platform for chess players to showcase their skills and compete for a cash prize.
