The 2021 African Chess Championship is coming up in Accra, Ghana from 17-26 September 2021. The Nigerian Chess Federation is taking extra measures to ensure that Nigeria is duly represented by the best players. In this bid, a team would be selected through the use of trials and FIDE Classical rating criteria, as approved by Nigerian Chess Federation (NCF).
79 participants took part in the first trial, conducted on 28th August 2021 at 19/21 Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos for under 08 to 16 categories.

Additional information
Official players are to get their letters from the office of the secretary to Nigerian Chess Federation, and they also get free accommodation in a shared room and three square meals only. Registration fee of $110 USD per player, and transport is self-paid.
Unofficial players will bear the full cost of participating in the event, accommodation, and meals at the rate of $65 USD per night in a shared apartment or a fee of $100 USD per night in a single room, inclusive of a guardian during the event.
Transport by air to Accra, Ghana is best advised. Bus to Accra, Ghana is not possible because the borders in West Africa are closed, but there is an alternative road that is not an authorized road. This unauthorized road is very risky and it is not approved by the Nigerian Chess Federation.
