The Naphtali Chess Open, an annual event is back in Port Harcourt, which is to hold from the 20th of April to the 24th of April, 2024 at Vee Hotel, 2 Chief Wonwu Avenue, Off Ordinance Rd, Trans-Amadi, in the city of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. This event is organized by the Naphtali Group, to celebrate chess skill, and bring together players of all ages, gender, backgrounds, and nationalities.

This year marks the 3rd edition of the tournament, happening at the same time with the 14th anniversary of the Naphtali Group. Chess enthusiasts are hereby invited to participate in the 7-round Swiss format tournament, to display their strategic skills effectively and compete for top honors.

The tournament features a time control of 90 minutes + a 30-second increment, ensuring an engaging and competitive atmosphere. In addition to the main event, there will be a blitz tournament for those seeking a quick and exciting activity. Participants can register by filling out the Google form provided and making a registration fee of #7500 to the account attached to the picture.

The emerging winner would be walking home with a sum of #250,000, as well as other prizes attached to the other sections the event will be featuring. The deadline for registration is April 12th 2024, so don’t miss out on the chance to join this prestigious event.

To accommodate potential logistical challenges, players can apply for a bye if they anticipate late arrival. However, absence without applying for a bye will result in a walkover for the opponent.
