In the tenth edition of FIDE World Cup 2019 being held at Khanty Mansiysk, Russia, Nigerian Chess player IM Daniel Anwuli played against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, French Grandmaster. It was a touch chess battle one which must come to an end with a winner or a draw. Maxime Vachier won which marks the end of the FIDE World Cup run for IM Daniel Anwuli. The push and achievement in Nigerian chess so far have improved and cannot be underrated, which is why the Nigerian chess community is proud of IM Daniel Anwuli.
20 years old Indian chess grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram played against the legendary British chess grandmaster Michael Adams and won in a marathon tiebreak. Aravindh Chittambaram wins with the score of 4.5-3.5 and scored an emphatic win in the last blitz game in a king and pawn ending. Aravindh Chittambaram is one of the reigning champions among Indian chess players and has proven that he is indeed talented with this new win.
17-years-old Russian Chess Grandmaster Andrey Esipenko defeated Ukrainian chess grandmaster Ruslan Ponomariov who was FIDE World Chess Champion from 2002 to 2004 with a score of 1,5-0,5. This win has made the 17-year-old to advance to the 2nd round of FIDE World Cup.

In another news, 18-year-old American chess grandmaster Jeffery Xiong was the first chess player to go through the second round of the FIDE World Cup defeating Igori Lysyi the 32-year-old Russian chess grandmaster with a score of 2-0. It seems like this year’s FIDE world Cup is all about young stars attaining greater height in their chess career.
