Fawole John Oyeyemi, a 2x Nigeria Chess Champion and FIDE Certified Chess In Education Lecturer, donated his widow’s mite and also showed up to grace and witness the remarkable challenge to support and celebrate Tunde Onakoya‘s excellence. The goal of breaking the Guinness World Record was to raise $1,000,000, to empower more underprivileged children across Africa.
At Times Square, New York, he met with Tunde Onakoya‘s opponent, Shawn Martinez, in his tweet via X, he said;
He also met notable Nigerian chess enthusiasts- FM Bimbo Osunfuyi, also known as Young GM, who is a chess instructor and Nigeria’s 1st Pro Chess Champion, also with CM Onyekwere Chikwere, the youngest player to become the National Champion, and Nigeria’s representative at the 2002 World Chess Olympiad.
